Art in Florence

“Florence, within the ancient boundary/ from which she taketh still her tierce and nones, / abode in quiet, temperate and chaste.” (Dante Alighieri, Paradiso XV)
In February the exhibition halls of Galleria360 are renewed to offer visitors, collectors and art lovers a new appointment with contemporary art. Unique artworks of great visual impact will be exposed during the exhibition "ART in Florence", whose inauguration will take place on 6th Friday of February 2015, at 19.00, in via il prato 11r, Florence. During the opening will also be offered a welcome drink while the musicians play live animating the evening and creating a pleasant union between Art and Music.
What is contemporary art? What it means to be a contemporary artist? What does really involve the confronting with our historical past? All questions that constellate the current art world and to whom the different art exhibitions have tried to answer since long time.
The Art Director Angela Fagu and Architect Riccardo Piagentini, in an attempt to offer new opportunities for reflection and stimulating comparison, selected artists from around the world, in order to bring art and aesthetic meditation in their place of origin, in the heart of artistic expression.
In fact, the ideal setting for this art event is Florence: the Florence of Dante "so great, that for land and sea beat the wings, and for the Hell thy name is spread abroad!" (Inferno, canto XVI); "the power of lily, shoot of spring" by Dino Campana; the city of art par excellence, with its priceless art treasures, with its historic streets and places that seem to be jealously guarded moments of a glorious past. Historic artistic heritage which is a great source of pride but at the same time can hinder the promotion and development of new trends.
"ART in Florence" solves this antinomy and, through the creative eclecticism of different artists, creates a bold synthesis of opposites, Florence and Contemporary Art, able to create a dialogue between past and present and to share it with the public.
So, "ART in Florence" is an exhibition that promotes plurilingualism of current art, showing the importance of adopting a free and diachronic look about art, in a dynamic perspective but respectful of the historical events. Henri Bergson Luis argued that "the present does not contain more than the past, so, what you discover in the effect was already in the cause.
