It intends to describe and explore the workshops and planning centers in the cross-overs between the sectors of art, tecnology, and economy.
The first meeting THE MARKETPLACES OF ART is created in collaboration with the fair Firenzecommerce (Florence, Fortezza da Basso, 17-18-19 november 2000, http://www.firenzecommerce.com); the second meeting is held in March, 2001, in occasion of the Internet Festival 2001. Amongs the events promoted by the organisations ((http://www.comune.firenze.it , http://www.bve.com , http://www.assointernet.it) Art Valley presents a unique combination between these great instances of change of this millenium.
The Art Valley project will be held in the city of Florence, as a focal point of international debate concerning art and its relationship with the new economy: from the eletronic pubblication to on line auctions, concluding with the art of the market place and its rappresentations. Florence offers its hospitality, its tradition and its patronage of art and culture for the setting of the debate, whether it be physical or virtual.
Besides its perfect location, the site of Florence is important given its competence and initiatives which are tied at the same time to new technology and to the new economy. Due to this, the first phases of research, organized by Assointernet and BVE on “The Web and the Business of Arts” will be presented with the preliminary examination of the dynamics and prospectives of business and its connections with art.

Organization
In addition to the Comune of Florence, BVE and Assointernet are organizations which are promoters of initiatives and events in the context of culture, banking, finance and in the new economy ((http://www.comune.firenze.it , http://www.bve.com , http://www.assointernet.it) not to mention events of spectacular character carried out with advanced tecnology.

International conference of Art Valley The Arts and the Change, The Digital Frontiers of Art.
INTERNET FESTIVAL (9.00-13.00; 14.30- 18.00) Firenze Stazione Leopolda- March, 2001
The meeting consists of the International conference intitled “Art and the Transformation. The Digital Frontiers of Art”, organized by the Municipality of Florence, in collaboration with BVE (European Virtual Bank) and Assointernet which will be held in Florence in March, 2001, in the occasion of the Internet Festival.
The conference gathers together major protagonists to testify the present day scenarios of art on-line, between the exponents of museums on line, electronic galleries, art links, search engines and directories. A prize for the art of tecnology will be awarded at this meeting.

The first meeting consists of an international conference intitled the THE MARKETPLACES OF ART organized by the Municipality of Florence in collaboration with BVE (European Virtual Bank) and Assointernet, at the same time as Firenzecommerce (Florence, Fortezza da Basso, 17-18-19th of november 2000, www.firenzecommerce.com).
The conference, begins on November 17 at 5:30 p.m., at Il Salone dei Cinquecento di Palazzo Vecchio and will continue on the 18th, at Firenzecommerce in the Fortezza da Basso. Experts in the fields of art-on-line, museums-on-line, electronic galleries, art-links, search engines and directories will be present at these conferences.
At the conferences, the main companies will provide information about how they carried out different programs, technological projects, and strategies relative to art.
Convening at this conference in a round table setting are companies who have active projects which deal with conservation, archive filing, creation and selling of art; thus making the most of artistic heritage in general.
The main topics are: the question of artistic tradition on the Internet; the conservation of art and the multimedia, the art and the on-line research, the business of art-on-line (the selling of art and its representation); the most advanced projects and research; the venture capital and the fine arts; e-marketing: focusing on the direction of cultural exchange, workshops on multi-media software and technology transfers, the projects of hypertextual exploration.
