Thisleading springtime event brings together close to 140 galleries from some 20 countries at the Grand Palais, exploring European art from the post-war period to the present day as well as emerging talents from around the world.
Since 2012, the fair has built a reputation for its exploration of international art scenes. After Asia, Art Paris Art Fair continues to shed light on new scenes by inviting Africa as guest of honour in 2017. The objective is to work with galleries and artists from both the African continent and the diaspora to highlight the richness and diversity of contemporary African creativity. A very complete events programme will broaden this exploration of a continent where a state of artistic effervescence reigns including: a selection of videos dealing with the themes of identity and the body; a platform devoted to writings and critiques from an African perspective; and a day of encounters and talks that will bring together key cultural figures and producers who are committed to promoting Africa-based artists and members of the diaspora.
As a complement to the guest of honour, more than ever Solo Show sector privileges presentation of personnal exhibitions, and Promises sector supports young galleries and emerging creation.
In cooperation with a selection of participating galleries, Art Paris Art Fair offers a unique programme of spectacular projections of digital art on the facade of the Grand Palais every evening for the duration of the fair.
In addition, the “Springtime in Paris” VIP programme offers collectors and art professionals access to the best of what is on in Paris, this year with a special focus on Africa.
