Dopo l’ultima personale nel 2010, la Galleria Alessandra Bonomo presenta una nuova mostra di Kazuko Miyamoto. Artista, giapponese naturalizzata statunitense, lavora dagli anni ’60 a New York, dove ha collaborato per lungo tempo nella realizzazione dei lavori in legno di Sol LeWitt. Nel 1986 apre Onetwentyeight Rivington Street nel Lower East Side. Nel suo spazio oltre al proprio lavoro, espone quello degli artisti della scena newyorkese contemporanea.
Ha lavorato dagli anni ‘70 con la Galleria Bonomo a Bari, Roma e Spoleto. La sua ricerca intreccia cultura e estetica giapponese e minimalismo con una grande abilità tecnica, utilizzando spesso fotografia e performance nelle sue mostre. Negli ultimi anni, Miyamoto è stata protagonista di esposizioni in istituzioni internazionali tra cui il MADRE di Napoli (2023), il MAO di Torino (2023), il Belvedere21 di Vienna (2024) e il KW di Berlino (2025). Questa mostra presenta una selezione di lavori su carta, opere in legno, String Constructions e fotografie, alcune delle quali ispirate alle sue performance, offrendo una visione completa della ricerca artistica di Kazuko Miyamoto.

Following her last solo show in 2010, Alessandra Bonomo Gallery presents a new exhibition by Kazuko Miyamoto. A Japanese-American artist who has worked since the 1960s in New York, where she collaborated for a long time on the production of Sol LeWitt’s wooden structure. In 1986, she opened her own space Onetwentyeight Rivington Street, in the Lower East Side.
In her gallery, alongside her own work, she also exhibited works by artists from the contemporary New York art scene. In the 1970s, she worked with Bonomo Gallery in Bari, Spoleto, and Rome. Her practice combines Japanese culture and minimalism, with great technical skill. She often used photographs and performance in her exhibitions. In the recent years, International institutions have organized several exhibitions dedicated to Kazuko Miyamoto, including MADRE, Naples 2023, MAO, Turin 2023, Belvedere21, Vienna 2024, and KW, Berlin 2025. The show presents a selection of works on paper, on wood, String Constructions, and photographs, some of them inspired by her performances, offering a comprehensive overview of Kazuko Miyamoto’s artistic practice.
