Comunicato stampa
Segnala l'evento
Attraverso i suoi progetti l'artista reinterpreta questi luoghi. Con la
rielaborazione digitale interviene sulle architetture riadattandole a
Simon Boudvin’s artistic research starts from a careful analysis of
those architectures that, born to satisfy a sort of utility, now are a
part of our urban view.
Through his projects the artist re-interprets these places. With the
digital new elaboration he intervenes on the architectures giving them
new possibilities. As Robinson Crusoe, confined in a desert island,
tries to arrange everything he finds according to the new necessities,
so the artist acts on the landscape regenerating some buildings and,
careless of the function they were built for, he modifies them here and
there giving them a different, even if absurd and ironic,
interpretation.
Simon Boudvin reconstructs inside the gallery one of the sceneries you
can easily find in the built-up areas. But now the visitor will be
forced to observe it from a new point of view and consequently with a
different perception of the architecture, as Robert Maitland in the “
Concrete Island” by J.G. Ballard who, standing in the middle of a
roundabout surrounded by the endless whizzing of the traffic,
established a new and alienating relationship with the place he already
knew.
Simon Boudvin’s first Italian exhibition proposes, with a sort of
irony, some views of common urban contexts regenerated and readjusted
according to a new light, that aim to put the careful visitor out of
the usual system that surrounds him, giving him a new skill of
knowledge, useful to taste its limits and implications.
"The apparent natural quality of his work always hides something
unexpected and abnormal, a possibility for the absurd. This subtle
contrast is surprising and gives the work a light, poetic aura"
(Giuseppe Penone)
